"taking care" of oneself

[livejournal.com profile] kimberly_a wrote a great post about taking care of one's own health. "Yes, each individual should take care of themselves. But applying this to weight-control and fitness becomes complicated ... because I don't think that we can reasonably expect people to do something which is not valued in our society."

Check it out. ;)

You know what they say about 'upsizing' portions?

They're not kidding. I got a bag of individually wrapped frozen salmon filets at Costco. Each filet is about the size of an average restaurant serving. The bag says that each 'portion' is between 8 and 9 oz.

Consider that a meat portion is supposed to be about 3 oz.

And that one is supposed to eat 2 or 3 portions a day.

Basically, one of these filets is enough meat for an entire day.

*Savors taste of salmon poached in lemon juice, then browned in butter* Not that there's anything wrong with having all the meat you need in one meal.... ;)

It's a planter! It's a computer case!

I'm just surprised it's not on Trading Spaces.
