101 ways: Entertainment

"Choose Uplifting Entertainment". And it quotes "Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things." (Phillipians 4:8) I think I've been overexposed to this particular quote, but that doesn't mean it's without merit. This is actually a topic I've been thinking about recently. For example: Battlestar Galactica is a cool show. I enjoyed the original, I enjoyed the movie, I enjoyed the bits I've seen, I have a stack of tapes from [livejournal.com profile] dianthus and I haven't watched them. I've ignored that stack of tapes while watching and re-watching all of Coupling. I've let them sit while I read and re-read Dorothy Sayers and Jill Payton Walsh. Not to mention Merry Gentry....

And I think it's because I want to laugh. I want puzzles, but at a distance. I want to visit another world, but with the choice of place and time that books provide. And I want it to be generally a known world, where I know I enjoy visiting. So I'm choosing my entertainments accordingly.

Choice...it's important.
