DrivingRevenue: boosting signal, opt-out

From [livejournal.com profile] vichan's journal

Links to about 150 e-commerce sites that users post to their LiveJournals are being redirected through a 3rd party website.

Among other things, this redirection strips any existing affiliate links and inserts a different affiliate link.

LJ has said they're pulling it (Discussions in [livejournal.com profile] news are here, here, here) but in the meantime directions to turn it off (from http://caffeinepuppy.livejournal.com/214632.html) are:
  1. Open the Admin Console at http://www.livejournal.com/admin/console/
  2. Execute the following command: set opt_exclude_stats 1

No, I do not use an affiliate account on LJ, but know others who do.

If you are interested: discussion and dissection of the code in question is here. No word on whether LJ did this itself using drivingrevenue.net as its partner or if a third party snuck this through.

UPDATE: LJ has pulled this. Reportedly this code was provided by a third party and supposed to add affiliate information if there wasn't already an affiliate code.
