jenkSaw Carrie Fisher interviewing Camryn Manheim last night. Some things stuck in my head...
CM: "Well, I'd like the residuals you had from that one movie."
CF: "I don't still get the residuals. I do have people calling me Leia. I'm walking through the airport and people say, "Leia? Princess Leia!"."
CF: "When I was in the hospital, I didn't really tell them about my life, because then I'd still be there. Can you imagine? "So there are dolls of you, and people ask you to sign them?""
CM: "I'd love one of those dolls."
CF: "There's also a shampoo bottle where you take off my head to pour the shampoo. I didn't tell them that either."
CM: "So I was at this pro-choice demonstration, and I got arrested. I called my mom. I say I'm at the police station. She asks why. I say I was demonstrating. She says "Mazel Tov!" I say thanks, and will she pick me up? She says "Oh no. You stay and make your point!" So I was the only one who spent the night in jail, because my parents were demonstrators."
CF: "Wow."
CM: "Well, it sucked at the time."
CF: "Great anecdote, bad life."
CM: "Well, you got around, right?"
CF: "You've got to remember, I was raised by Tammy The Virgin. So I rebelled."
CM: "Instyle and so on - they ask me for beauty tips. Hello, I use Salon Selectives. I buy it at RiteAid. I don't even cut my hair. What do I know about beauty tips?"
CM: "I really got into music when I was a teenager. I really wanted to go to shows, and I was at the age where you'd hang around for hours even if you didn't have a ticket. And I found that if you waited you might get invited backstage. Which was even more exciting."
CF: "I used sex to get into a concert once."
CM: "Who was it?"
CF: "Paul Simon."
