Badlands

For the ones who had a notion
A notion deep inside
That it ain’t no sin to be glad you’re alive

This hit me on the way home tonight. It ain’t a sin to be glad you’re alive. It’s not a sin to enjoy life, or to be glad you’re enjoying it. Joy should be savored and welcomed. Might “en-joy” mean to envelope oneself in joy?


I want to find one face that ain’t looking through me
I want to find one place I want to spit in the face of these
Badlands, you got to live it every day
Let the broken hearts stand as the price you got to pay
Keep pushing til it’s understood them badlands start treating us good


I’ve found a few faces that look at me, not through me. Faces that welcome me and care for me, even love me. Thank God. But right now I don’t feel I have my place. Well, my place to live, but not my place in this world, my work, my role. That’s next :)
