From Dave Barry's Blog:
I'm a member of a rock band of authors, the Rock Bottom Remainders (motto: "We Play Music As Well As Metallica Writes Novels"). Once a year we go on tour to (a) raise money for a fine charity called "America Scores," and (b) make a lot of people bleed from their ears. This year in April we're doing our first West Coast Tour, the "Fire in the Belly" tour, which will take us to Seattle, San Francisco and Los Angeles. We will be joined by a Special Guest who can -- despite the threat that this poses to us, artistically -- actually play music. For information about the tour, and how to get tickets, and pictures of underwear, you can go here.

The Seattle show will be April 23rd, $40, at the EMP. (Or $200 if you want to meet the band). Anyone want to go with me?

This started from a reply to [livejournal.com profile] sar_anon, but I wanted to grow it a bit...

For the first 15 years of my life I always had the mountains surrounding me, and water available. I didn't really think about it. If I walked down the driveway and looked down the hill, I'd see I-5 and the Cascades. Look the other way? A hill, and beyond it the Olympics. Walking to school, riding my bike to 7-11 to get comics, the mountains were there.

Summer weekdays we'd go to Green Lake, Haller Lake, or Lake Washington to swim. Most Saturdays we'd drive to my aunt's in Federal Way on I-5. The Cascades and Lake Washington on one side of the car; the Olympics, Lake Union and Puget Sound on the other. Read more... )

I could see living in Manhattan for a year or three, but that's the only other possible home I've seen. The northwet feels 'right' to me, and nothing else will do.
