Jun. 15th, 2003 04:56 pmFound an image that helps me to sleep - or otherwise quit chasing every random thought: A bike whose chain has fallen off the gears. The pedals still move, the chain can move, but the gear just sits there. My brain is the gear, and I tell myself, "So what if the chain is moving; I don't have to move." A similar idea is pushing on the clutch pedal on a manual, but that doesn't work quite as well visually for me.
Went to church this morning. The priest doing the homily - Ann Kitch, from PA - got one of those 'universal intakes of breath', aka, everybody did a silent little 'gasp' of surprise. Why? The gospel was Nicodemus talking with Jesus. Ann said that yes, we can climb back into the womb of God our Mother and be reborn. Surprise. I could almost feel people relaxing through the next couple of sentences.
More later....
