Semi-random update
Oct. 21st, 2003 05:47 pmI've watched Nikki's "Bring Me To Life" video about 4 times. You can download it from http://www.jetwolf.com/blog/; it features Willow and Tara, with substantial Season 6 Buffy spoilers. It's good. Yes, it's by Nikki alias Jet Wolf, co-creator of AsIf!.
canacat seems to have moved past the "miffed" stage to "clingy". When she takes a break from her "grab mommy's fingers while she types" game she naps in the doorway. I may go to Third Place just to get a break.
Picked up Callahan's Con, a new David Horsey book, a new Foxtrot book, and a new Doonesbury book last night. Spider's reading was hilarious.

The con was intense. Lots to absorb, lots to think about. Lots of good information.
And some not-so-good interactions. Maybe it has to do with approaching 40, but I'm losing some of my patience. One bright young thing was going on and on about how upset she'd been in a meeting with an editor. Had the editor trashed her book? No. The editor hadn't wanted to see it, since it didn't fit what she buys, but had suggested the writer send it to a different editor at the company. So what was the problem?
The editor wasn't *enthusiastic*.
(Pause to marvel at the idiocy)
I was also surprised by the number of folks who weren't "ready" to get feedback from an author (the con has a "blue pencil cafe", where authors give feedback on the first 3 pages of a manuscript). Hrm. I don't post on the net, but I do make use of blue pencil. Could be some prefer to show their friends first; others find it's easier to deal with strangers.
I'm glad I took some chamomile tea with me. It was a good counterbalance when the peppers were undercooked or whatever. I also discovered that two cups of chamomile after a glass of wine created an interesting floaty feeling ;)
