And yeah, I haven't been posting a lot lately. Hm. What's up with me...

I've been somewhat social. Thursday I had dinner with [livejournal.com profile] byrdie, met up with [livejournal.com profile] jw1776, [livejournal.com profile] cyberangel_, and [livejournal.com profile] ts_umbra at Starbuck's, and went dancing. Friday [livejournal.com profile] jw1776 & I watched more Sex & The City season 1 and went to a 70's-themed party. (I wore a tie-die minidress, gave my hair a blowout, added a headband, and slipped on on Birkenstocks. I think it was scary.) Saturday [livejournal.com profile] dianthus & I had dinner & went to Borders.

I itch. Well, it's summer. Naturally dry skin + drying affects of AC + sweating off moisturizer when I'm not in AC == uncomfy me. Toss in allergic reactions and occasional scratches and ew.

Speaking of allergies, I cab breade. So lots of tea and decongestants. Need I actually say that I'm having trouble sleeping? Yeah, well, I said it anyway.

Speaking of scratches, Saturday I tried to weed out some of the ivy around the roses a previous owner planted. Turns out there's also some blackberry canes growing amid the ivy. Ow. I filled up the yard waste bin with blackberry canes, some ivy, and a bunch of other vegetation that was between me and the ivy. Yes, I should probably weed more often :)

Also on Saturday I looked at deck furniture at Fred Meyer and Molbak's. I continued on Sunday at Home Depot. I want a couple comfortable chairs, where comfortable means roomy and sturdy, aka cedar or cast aluminum. Not plastic. I found some sets that could work, but the sets have more stuff than would fit on our deck and why exactly should I pay for a 3-seater couch, two chairs, an end table and a coffee table when I want two chairs and maaaaybe a 2-seater bench? Oh, it's easier to manage stock that way? I see. I may end up special ordering at Molbak's - not cheap but at least I can get what I want.

We have ordered replacement windows for the stairwell (west side) and library (north & south) windows. They'll be thicker than the 70s-era originals, lack heat conductors (other than air) between the two panes of glass, and have a UV filter. Since a lot of the heat in our house is from the west windows, this should really help. Of course it's going to take 6-8 weeks for them to get them built....

The 4th is coming up. We are invited to a friend's, which would rock, except we'd have ti drive a ways to get there, which means holiday traffic, which does not rock. Hm....
