A semi-nostalgic moment for me tonight: Seeing a line of people sitting against the wall outside the Bella Bottega theatre here in Redmond. I slowed down to ask what the movie was...and then I saw people in pirate costumes. Right, Dead Man's Chest.
It was an interesting contrast. Last movie I lined up for hours ahead of time was Return of the Jedi, in 83. My friend Lisa was with me, and Scott, and other folks from our high school German class. We played cards and talked. Lisa was with me too tonight. We went to the neighboring spa - massage & pedicure for me, massage & facial for her - for a belated birthday celebration. We talked, laughed, sipped raspberry tea, got steamed, rubbed, her zits popped, my toes polished. Then on to the french place for sauvingon blanc, salad, seafood, and creme brulee. I brought the rest of the wine home. Jedi opened on a warm night; some of us went on a pop run, trusting the others to hold our place. I wasn't on the net then, so no after-action report online. But I can remember the warm hardness of the blacktop & laughing at the ewoks.
