So this pro-life activist quotes a "pro-abortion person, Miss Caroline Weber" as a jumping-off-point for an anti-abortion rant. He notes the source of Miss Weber's comments and the photo of her from his source, "an article at The Onion online magazine".

Yes, you read that correctly: "an article at The Onion online magazine". Naturally, this gets some comments. And links. I'm speculating as to whether he's trying to build up his readership or he really believed it. Then I see his follow-up article, where
  • He claims that "Miss Caroline Weber" is "a woman who supports the murder of over 3,000 babies/human beings every single day[, ] a woman who supports the suctioning out of brains from human beings to collapse their skulls in order to remove their dead carcases from the women who have chosen to kill their children."
  • Note he assumes she's an actual person.
  • He claims that he believed The Onion's article was real "because I meet women like her in the field all the time".
  • To support this assertion, he relates how a woman he accosted approached while setting up "genocidal awareness project" signs had the audacity to not only be pro-choice, but started just agreeing with his outrageous abortion metaphors ("What if a mother strangled a child at the grocery store, what if a man raped you and murdered you")
  • He gives no inkling that the woman he talked with might have been messing with his mind or trying to get him to GO AWAY.
Now, the first post had comments (over 600 of them right now) - and some of the comments are funnier than the posts (and almost all are much saner). The second post has over 500 comments at the moment - including:
Please, for the love of all that is right, stop publishing this nonsense. There is no Caroline Webber. Have you ever heard of satire? [...] Please just take this post down before you give the pro-abortion movement another head of steam. You are sending us back years.

Did Christ go around telling everyone to stone the prostitutes because they obviously loved their work? I believe he taught a little thing called "compassion." It's a concept completely lacking in any of your posts- you obviously have NO FUCKING CLUE why any woman would make such a heart-wrenching choice as to terminate a pregnancy. No, far easier to think of her as so happy about it, she's throwing a party!
...not to mention the entire text of Jonathan Swift's Modest Proposal. He's got a third post about this mess....

[After 9/11], a lot of people spoke of waking up to the fact that life offers no guarantees, and they vowed not to continue taking their lives and loved ones for granted. But why were they asleep in the first place? People die suddenly every day; why did it take planes flying into buildings to realize that the spouse they fought with this morning might not come home tonight?

This is one of the reasons I'm reluctant to work late every night or weekends. Work is important, but so is the rest of my life - and it may not wait.
