geek movie alert
Aug. 4th, 2006 02:24 pmThe Dish is an Aussie movie about Australia's Parkes radio telescope and its role in receiving TV & radio broadcasts from Apollo 11. It's got some funny stuff, tho I doubt all of the snafus in the movie were real ;) It also could skip the whole "present-day frame" bit, tho at least it's mercifully short. Might be a good double-feature with Apollo 13.

jhulten) or space (too numerous to mention). I found the geeks-on-a-timeline fun, and the recap of Apollo 11 coverage fascinating - I'm young enough that I have no memories of Apollo 11, but old enough that it wasn't something I studied in school.
