Had trouble sleeping last night. At the moment I'm sipping Diet Pepsi and pigging out on scones to stay awake.

If you're local & haven't voted yet, you may find the following helpful: I am going to vote, then Jesse's going to drop me off before he goes to work.

This morning we went to the fair. Jesse had a blast hanging out in the L booth, as usual, and he also dropped by the Ds & Rs booths, as usual. The day wasn't all politics. We wandered through the Agri & livestock barns, checked out the babies in the Pig Palace, and ran into LeAnn in the goat area. Jesse & LeAnn talked Nubians for a bit, and LeAnn and I caught up in general. After more livestock we hit Hobby Hall. Model rockets, the Gem & Mineral society (complete with a model of the Space Needle built out of various rocks), coin collectors, Legos, and a *hydroplane* -- I was worried I'd lose Jesse entirely to that Hall. Of course he was probably worried I wouldn't leave the stained glass display!

After that we had some fair food, including chocolate-dipped cheesecake on a stick. I'd planned to try a deep-fried Snickers bar, but I after chocolate-dipped cheesecake, I didn't bother.

We wandered through a few more booths and Jesse got a haircut from the beauty school students. Then Jesse settled into the L booth some more and I wandered over to the games & rides area. No rides were really worth standing in line for tickets, at least for me, and the games didn't appeal that much. I guess I'm getting old. I was impressed with the various sewing, jewelry & other art displays. The Tin Woodman was tempting, but we really don't have room for him (he's a statue). I did laugh at the afghan displays - there were no less than FOUR American Flags, plus 3 other red-white-blue afghans. The afghan in the pattern of the Stewart Tartan was something to see, though, as was some of the crazy quilts. Impressionistic mosaics.

After 2 the lack of sleep caught up with me, so I asked Jesse if he was ready to leave. We got a bag of scones and headed home. Traffic wasn't bad, so it was probably best that we left when we did...
