busy weekend
Jul. 14th, 2002 10:54 pmSaturday wasn't as hot as Friday. Fortunately. I was babysitting Miss Kira, a new friend (8 weeks, to be precise) while her Mom & Dad went to see Bugs Bunny at Benaroya Hall.
The cool part was that she's sooo cute, and full of expressions and opinions. The not-so-cool part was that it was the first time she'd had a babysitter, and she missed Mom. So after she'd napped, had her diaper changed, and been fed, she would try to get Mom to come & cuddle. Only Mom didn't.
What *did* soothe her was being walked around the house. We walked for a couple hours all told, plus going upstairs (changing table & bottles) and down (10 degrees cooler). But that's okay. She's a sweetie.
After that, we had dinner at Coco's (
jw1776 doesn't plan to return) and went to hear Gaia Consort at a yard concert. The music was great -- Chris opened with a new song -- and the new violinist, Larry, played really well (yes, they did Beltane Fires). I danced during most of the two-hour concert.
Unfortunately, by the time Chris started "Ravens" I wasn't feeling very well. I think it was a combination of the food and getting too many facefulls of smoke (believe me, I tried to avoid the smokers, but they seemed to want to position so that the wind would carry the smoke over the entire yard). So we left as they started "Family".
Once home, I found that much water & scrubbing helped. Long baths are wonderfully relaxing - drat the downstairs neighbor for complaining about the tub noise...
This morning was Dim Sum with
wolfieboy,
byrdie,
angilong,
charlesks,
jenkitty,
technoshaman,
cainadai, and other folks...
After that, I fed the kitties, came home, and answered a few phone messages. First was a message from another HOA board member who wanted to know what to do about a damaged lock on the back gate of the property. Hm. Calling the maintenance chair seemed reasonable to me. Oh, and here's a call from the maintenance chair, saying he did a temporary repair and did I think we should fix it permanently or try to get the builder to do it right? I called them back. I also explained that
jw1776 & I'll be selling sometime in the next year, so I'm going to resign from the HOA board in the next month or so. I went ahead and called the rest. Tomorrow I'm going to let our property manager know, and then I'll make it official.
Then, I finished my manuscript. *bzzzt* Nope. I wasn't sure what to do next, so I went through the manuscript (so far) and did a bit of editing. When I got to the last page I'd written, I had an idea, but damn, the words just didn't want to come today. So I wrote, I checked LJ, I wrote, I IMd with
dianthus and
jenkitty, I wrote, I got some basil off the plant on our bedroom windowsill and made dinner. And wrote til I'd completed the chapter. 2200 words today & I know what happens tomorrow.
I also confirmed that Emma's back, so I don't have to worry about her kitties anymore. I love the cats, but catsitting in Seattle for 3 weeks is a bit much.
I had a cup of cocoa while laughing at Robin Williams with
jw1776.
I'm ready to end the day...blessings to all of us.
