This started as a reply to [livejournal.com profile] buzzwords, but I thought it worth putting here.

  1. Shut the bathroom door and turn on the heat lamp (if you have one). This keeps warmth in the bathroom.

  2. Unless the house is warmer than 80 degrees, start with *hot* water. Just a tad bit hotter than you can stand, actually. The tub will usually be cold, so it will usually cool the water off a bit.

  3. Put a towel by the tub to dry off your hands, and a bath sheet for when you're done. If you like to read, fold a book in a towel by the tub. Music is good too.

  4. If you have the opportunity...have a large hot water heater. When I bought a new-construction home, I had them install a soaking tub that would hold me & [livejournal.com profile] jw1776 *and* a 75-gallon hot water heater. (Btw, if you want to see pictures, check out its website.)

  5. Don't forget to bring in something to drink.

This should result in a warm tub that helps all your muscles relax.
