In other news, it's too hot. Okay, you say, it's only 75 in Seattle right now. Yes it is, but it was HOT when I went to bed, it was HOT when I got up, it's HOT HOT HOT and I'm sick of it. Perhaps I should start setting the thermostat above 65 sometime so this 75, 85, 95 bullshit wouldn't be such a shock to the system? Sigh.

I turned on the fan and made coffee. For some reason I feel better. Does non-dairy creamer count as food? Maybe I should eat something. Eh. Maybe more coffee.

Oh, and the old Rainer Brewery by I-5 has been sold again, this time to folks who want to make it an artist's colony. When I was a kid I always wanted to play on the exterior of the building. (Well, it *looked* like a jungle gym.) Tully's still rents 1/3 of the building and says it has no plans to move.

Yes, I'm rambling. Deal.

Yesterday Roy & I went to see the new Lara Croft movie. Very pretty, some silly stuff, and we timed for the hottest part of the day (4pm showing). What wasn't so smart was walking around afterward in the sun - I kept him company while he got ice cream. We wandered through WotC while he ate, and I burbled happily when I found blank Fluxx cards & Chrononauts. (Jesse! Shall we?) Came home & made dinner for Jesse, discovered I had an appetite too. Food combined with much cold liquid helped me wake up enough to go grocery shopping with Jesse. Wedded bliss. ;) Oh, and I got the Pampered Chef orders done.

Tuesday was again very hot. This was the day I gave up on trying to walk outside. I slipped over to Crossroads and walked back & forth in the mall a while. I was able to walk much faster than I have been outside lately - my 30 minutes probably covered more ground at Crossroads - but it was boring. Oy.

We also went to Third Place to chat with folks and have salad. Ducked out early to get ice cream at Vivian's Pride on the way home. Jesse figured out that the 4' folding table makes a sturdy base for the box fan, and it's high enough that the fan could blow cool air from the sliding glass door over the foot of our bed. Yum.

Mostly I hung around the house taking cool baths and reading. Sunday I went to Compline, Monday I confirmed that John still has the messiest clean house I know.

Blew off most of the housework as being already done and played around on the computer. Made a gift for Betsy & went over to her place to help get ready for the Gaia Consort / Carolyn Currie house concert. Ended up doing some cleaning, set-up, and a 'oops we forgot this' grocery run, setup Chris' CD table, then Chris asked me to run the CD table. 'bout normal. Also ended up playing 'donation basket mother' - we've apparently got most of Chris & Sue's regular crowd trained to think of me as the door person, so I was being handed 'door money' before we had a place to put it ;)

[livejournal.com profile] damiana_swan spelled me during the break (thanks!). I think we did a great job of tracking all the different money trails. We had Chris & Sue's merchandise, Caroline Currie's merchandise, Chris & Sue donations, Evolve pre-orders / donations, and the door money. And it all worked out - Chris split the door with Carolyn, we got Carolyn the money for her CDs, and so on.

And then we went home to a hothouse, especially upstairs. I keep thinking that I should just not go anywhere after 6 or 7pm so that I can have the windows open and cool the house off. I also keep wanting to rip out the west windows along our stairway and replace them with one window per floor that OPENS so we could have a crossbreeze! ALL the upstairs windows that open are on the east side of the house. ALL. So are most of the downstairs windows that open. Yes, it would be a major job - but oh, it would be nice on hot summer evenings.

Friday I already ranted about.

Wednesday I spent a couple hours putting away stuff in the kitchen that didn't belong in the kitchen. Shoes, things that a friend dropped off for us to to deliver to other friends (what am I, USPS?), napkins and placemats we haven't used in years, a couple bags of miscellaneous stuff from the junk drawer at the condo, teflon skillets with the teflon coating peeling off, laundry, empty boxes....then I spent 20 minutes dust- and wet-mopping the floor. My, 'twas clean, especially since I'd taken out loads of recycling on Monday.

Went to put together the new vacuum. Didn't work. Re-read the instructions. Didn't work. Watched the video on their website. Didn't work. Found the receipt, boxed it back up, and Thursday morning I returned it and bought a different vacuum that didn't require as much assembly - along with food for the party. Assembled the new vacuum and vacuumed just about everywhere. I cleaned the downstairs bathroom again. I turned the living room couch around to face the kitchen, vacuuming under where it had been. Pampered Chef party went pretty well - relaxed group, yummy salad.

I think that's enough for now. I'm going to see if I can find anything appetizing to eat...
