The 520 bridge will be closed at 10pm tonight.

Once again, an initiative is in court to test constitutionality. Exactly how a statewide vote is supposed to invalidate a previous 4-county vote is not addressed.

[C]hange is in the air -- and accepted as inevitable and normal -- up north. The Rev. Rev. Robert Taylor, dean of St. Mark's Cathedral in Seattle, spent last weekend in Toronto preaching at the 150th anniversary of the city's St. James Anglican Cathedral. "People didn't quite understand why there would be a fuss" about same-sex marriages, Taylor said.
The article also notes that churches have been conducting Blessing of Union ceremonies for gays and lesbians.

The Austin Stateman's article on the gay right decision refers to Clarence Thomas' dissent, saying it
[D]erided the Texas sodomy law as silly.
"If I were a member of the Texas Legislature, I would vote to repeal it," Thomas wrote. "Punishing someone for expressing his sexual preference . . . does not appear to be a worthy way to expend valuable law enforcement resources."
However, Thomas noted, his duty is to the Constitution, and the Constitution contains no general right of privacy, he said.
An interesting book on the topic of privacy is The Right To Privacy.
