Ever have a day where you wake up with a headache, no energy, dizzy, hungry, no appetite, kinda nauseous....? Well, a few ibuprofen, several glasses of water, a ham sandwich, 60% of a Brown Bag cinnamon roll, a diet pepsi, and all of Harry Potter and Order of the Phoenix later, I'm still there. Well, a bit less nauseous.

Thanks, Jesse, for checking the mail, and for letting me have the book first. Wish I'd checked it yesterday, but...oh well. Last night was fun, and the book would've been a wee bit distracting.

Sue called, Pampered Chef stuff is in.

I wish I hadn't seen that today's high temp was supposed to be 82 F. It makes the current 88 F harder to deal with.

Yet another reminder that one really needs to go the source documents. From Slate:
Scalia wrote: "I have nothing against homosexuals." Whether this was newsworthy for its genuineness or for its disingenuousness is unclear to me. The quote was taken completely out of context. What Scalia actually wrote in his dissent is more ambivalent: "I have nothing against homosexuals, or any other group, promoting their agenda through normal democratic means." Scalia wasn't saying that he has nothing against homosexuals (he wouldn't think such a personal comment was appropriate anyway). He was saying that in his view, homosexuals (and by extension the KKK and abortion rights advocates) are entitled to use all the democratic tools at their disposal to pursue their cause. Scalia has nothing against democracy. That is what he was saying.

Dahlia Lithwick, btw, covers the Supremes regularily for Slate.
