Wrote some character sketches today.

Must remember not to order garlic anything at the Thai place at Bellevue Galleria. Yummy, but my tongue hurt (1 star! 1! Just lots of garlic!). I ended up licking peanut sauce off of Jesse's spoon.

Pirates was pretty good...a bit long, but good.

Walked along the waterfront a bit by pier 70 with Jesse. Salt air, boats to look at...yum! We had dinner with [livejournal.com profile] datavore, [livejournal.com profile] dianthus, [livejournal.com profile] elfric, & [livejournal.com profile] taxqueen & went dancing.

Bed now...thud.

This morning's paper has an article about holy union ceremonies at my parish ;) Nice to see the local paper finally recognizing that yes, some churches celebrate gay marriages. They've certainly given the ones who don't plenty of space to spew.

I was correct that the smoke I've been smelling is coming from the valley (along 202 between Redmond & Woodinville). [livejournal.com profile] dianthus called to check if our house had been evacuated (!)

No, we're still here. If (and I pray we won't be, but if) we are evacuated, we're now taking Giles and Jane with us along with [livejournal.com profile] canacat. And of course my contingency-planning mind would add [livejournal.com profile] violindaine and [livejournal.com profile] chinchillagirl, if necessary, though I really hope it wouldn't be because I'm not sure all their livestock would be okay in the back of a pickup. Or trunk. But you don't carry *six* *cats* in one car without a way to contain them all, and we don't have it. Betsy could carry six no problem, but she'd be busy with 2 kids and her own cats.

So, wind, please do not blow the fire our way. Please. And I will try to turn off my worst-case-scenario-contingency-planning PM / Test manager brain. Alright? Alright.

EDIT: We've been watching NW Cable News on this (channel 2) and discovered a few more facts.
  1. There is one development on Redmond-Woodinville Road they think *may* need to be evacuated. They've had people go around and knock on doors, notifying the residents.
  2. Nobody's done that here.
  3. The Redmond FD says the fire isn't officially under control yet, but they've reached "perimeter contained".
  4. For those who live in Education Hill and aren't near a TV, check out http://www.kirotv.com/.
So I think we're okay...but I'm not sure I want to go anywhere tonight.

Parts of Red-Wood Road are closed (from 98th to 108th).

A naked man escaped from Harborview.

I wish...
