I've always been a bit bemused by that phrase. Storms do not attack. They exist. Humans operate on a different level from weather; it's part of our environment. Resenting a stom is like resenting water for being wet: you certainly *can* do it, but it doesn't do much good.

At least not for me. [livejournal.com profile] canacat feels differently.

Today the little batterymobile and I struggled through the storm from Kirkland to Surrey. Even when the rain thinned out in the Skagit Valley - with a welcome increase in visibility - the wind just blew harder. It's disconcerting to be turning the wheel so that you can keep going *straight* (or gayly forward, if you prefer).

But I made it. 4 hours on the road, instead of 3, but that's okay; I left early after checking the weather reports for Everett, Mount Vernon, Bellingham, Blaine, and Vancouver. The most depressing part of that was that they were all the SAME.

For the curious, I spent 15 minutes at the border. For once the truck crossing was busier than that Arch (nothing like crossing during business hours on a weekday).

I've been vegging a bit - didn't sleep well, got up early, and tired from the storm - but I think I'll go wander around the hotel a bit, possibly have some wine. The con doesn't start til tomorrow, and it's not like I have to drive tonight, right?
