There will be a Diocesan All Souls' Requiem Eucharist on Saturday, Nov 1st, at 7:30pm in St Mark's Cathedral. The choir will sing Gabriel Fauré’s Requiem, inspired by Gregorian Chant, with organ, orchestra, and soloists. St Mark's takes music seriously, so there will be people there just for the music as well as remembering those who've left us in the last year. The liturgy will take pains to include those who have died of HIV/AIDS in the last year.
Background: November is the last month of the church calendar. It's a time of rememberance of those who've left us, and contemplating our own mortality and using the time we have well. The month begins with The Commemoration of all the Departed on the 1st (aka All Souls' Day, which has lots of parallels and roots in Samhain) and with All Saints' Day, which celebrates all the believers (known and unknown) on the 2nd.
