Other Griswold notes
Nov. 10th, 2003 08:58 pmAt the St. Mark's forum, Griswold said [...] "A lot of curiosity has been provoked," he said. "The number of hits on our Web site in New York has increased astronomically. ... I think the fact that we are willing to live the difficult questions in an open and honest way is very encouraging." [...] During the forum, [parishioner Carla] Robinson told Griswold the debate has prompted questions from friends curious to know what's going on within the church.
"All of a sudden, folks who are afraid to even begin to talk about church are asking me," she said. "And I want to thank you for that."
Mike Roth, of West Seattle, told Griswold that he particularly appreciated the appointment of a gay bishop, describing an incident when he was 12 in which Roth said he was beaten up by four adult men in rural Oregon because he was gay.
"I'm just so thankful that the climate has changed," Roth told Griswold. "Thank you." - today's Seattle Times
