We are all called upon to pay alms to the profits and to decorate our homes in green and red, colors that signify the expenditure of cash that bleeds us dry. - Jerry Large

It's not Christmas yet. Yes, many houses around here have lights. Some had lights and decorated trees before Thanksgiving. People talk about how busy they are with presents and so on.

I'm not.

Part of me feels guilty for this...and part of me loves it. The doing is simple: repeat the mantra ("It's Not Christmas Yet") til after [livejournal.com profile] jw1776's birthday, throw up some lights, grab Christmas CDs & head to Victoria. Wallow in carols on the way up and the decorations and fun while we're there. Write cards and notes to family Christmas afternoon. Christmas-shop at the Boxing Day sales and give out gifts when we get back (hey, Christmas lasts twelve days!)

Not that we don't enjoy various holiday parties and so on beforehand. I'm just tired of building and building up to Christmas all through Nov & Dec and then having it over in one day. This way we do less of a build-up...and enjoy it more.

I do wish there was a way to be at St Mark's midnight mass on Christmas Eve and still spend that night in Victoria - without the expense of hiring a helicopter. But we manage ;)
