Phone conversations with the sleepy
Jan. 29th, 2004 12:33 pmSo I call the person I'm supposed to have lunch with for the third or fourth time. It rings, it rings...and it's picked up.
A voice, forming words slowly if not deliberately. "Alright, I'm ... sorta ... awake."
Me, matter-of-fact. "Ok. Want food?"
"Food    good." The words aren't slurred. It's just a slower rhythym.
"I should come and get you?"
A beat. "I    should    shower."
"I should come and get you in half an hour?"
"Yeeaah"
