Celtic Spirituality
Thursday, October 21, 7:00-9:00 p.m. Bloedel Auditorium
In the pre-Christian Celtic world, the land was the Great Goddess. The Celts viewed life as a continuous cycle of birth-death-rebirth. When St. Patrick arrived in Ireland and introduced the Celts to the Christian Resurrection, he discovered that this concept was already a vital part of the Celtic belief system! The Roman Empire cracked down on the Celts’ special breed of Christianity in 1142, but today, it is enjoying a resurgence.
Find out much more about Celtic wisdom and spirituality with Finbarr Ross, Irish tour guide and Celtic expert. Learn about St. Patrick, St. Brigid, and other early church figures who left their mark on the Celtic world.
A Glimpse Of Reconciliation
Sunday, November 7, 6:00-8:00 p.m. Bloedel Auditorium
Rachel Corrie was killed by a bulldozer in 2003 while acting as a “human shield” to prevent the destruction of Palestinian homes in the Gaza Strip.
Come hear her parents, Cindy and Craig Corrie, speak of their experience coming to terms with their daughter’s death.
We will also view the film Another Side of Peace, a documentary chronicling the development of The Parents’ Circle (www.theparentscircle.org), a group of Israeli and Palestinian parents who have lost children in the struggle. Ellen Frick, the director and producer of the film, will be here to engage us in conversation.
