BSG: Starbuck Shock?

jenkA few weeks ago I went over to a client's office where I will be working on-site to get a badge made. Turns out the middle-aged woman who took my picture & such is named - well, I'm not going to say her first name, but her last name is Starbuck.
So I had to ask. "You probably get this all the time, but: Do you watch Battlestar Galactica?"
"Oh, I haven't been asked that in ages! We used to watch it when I was a kid, of course, because of Starbuck."
Shock. She's only seen the first one? And here I hang out with people who seem to only know the new one. I ask, "Did you know that on the new series Starbuck is a girl?"
"No! Really?"
And we continue. I suggest she look at the miniseries, and mention that it's on DVD. (I don't mention that I just watched the miniseries myself and didn't get into the series.) jw1776, who looked at me strangely. "Didn't dianthus tell you that Starbuck is dead?"
"Uh, right."
"No, really."
"Oh, c'mon. It's Starbuck, okay? One thing holds true in both series: Starbuck gets a +30 on any saving throw. Period. Just because it's Starbuck."
...and a few days later, people start posting OMGWTF Starbuck's Alive!!! ... and I smile.

Not saying that can't make her a Cylon or that she can't leave the show if she wants. Just saying that keeping Starbuck alive? Not a problem.
(Apollo isn't so lucky. Hence him actually dying in part 2 of War of the Gods.)
(Wonder if the new series will try to tackle WotG...for the uninitiated: part 1, part 2.)
