I am surprised, but not upset.

Regarding my 401(k), our IRAs, and other investments? I haven't looked. I don't put money into stocks that I'm going to want within 5 years* (Microsoft did teach me that) so near-term stock swings don't affect me directly. Although now might be a good time to make this year's IRA deposits (while stocks are on sale).
*Our emergency fund is split between a money market account & a short-term bond fund. The money market is not volatile at all, and the bond fund is still up for the year.
The vote against the measure was 228 to 205, with 133 Republicans joining 95 Democrats in opposition. The bill was backed by 140 Democrats and 65 Republicans.Vote info is here (uses flash)
