Writer's Block: Rescue mission

Between May 98 and June 99 I lived in a particular apartment. The apartment building's fire alarm went off while I was sleeping one night. I pulled on a nightgown and slippers, grabbed the cat, my wallet, and car keys, and ran.
The actual fire was a few buildings down from mine, but Cana and I ended up sitting in my car while the firemen put it out. Thank GOD I grabbed the keys, because Ms Antsy Maine Coon Tropicana Rose was NOT in the mood to be held still while fire alarms were assaulting her ears. The car interior was quieter, and she could sprawl in the back window and watch the action.
